The Cracked Pot : A Blessing in Disguise

A water bearer had two large pots, each hung on each end of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, and while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master’s house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years, this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water in his master’s house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to the end for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. Read More …

They say love comes in all shapes, colours and sizes, well! That is true. While can be blooming, glittery and sparkling, love can also at times be toxic and dark. It is because love is always associated with people and people are never black and white. There are a lot of grey areas too.

Here is a compiled list of different shades of love that we often experience in our entire lifetime.

The puppy love: Usually it is also called as the high school romance love. Here, everything is viewed through a pink-tinted glass. There is no responsibility only fun! The puppy mushy love is often the most innocent type of love we ever experience. But, some of us grow out of it pretty soon. Read More …

Stop worrying

A worker in a refrigeration company one night entered a huge refrigeration container to do routine work. The door accidentally closed leaving him trapped inside. He screamed for hours in desperation. Inside the container, he began to feel colder and weaker. Using his tools, he wrote on the wall of the container, “I am feeling colder and getting weaker. I am dying and these may be my last words.”

Early morning, co-workers found him dead. They remarked, “This man worried himself to death. He could have waited for us till morning.” The refrigerating container had actually broken down ten days earlier.

Worries, doubts, and anxieties are a normal part of life. It’s natural to worry about an unpaid bill, an upcoming job interview, or Read More …

How time flies!! A month in Bahrain.

My journey began on the 30th of January when I boarded the Air India flight, crossed the sea and set foot in Bahrain at around 9 AM (Bahrain time). As soon as I got off I could feel the chills, which was totally different from my hometown. I got my visa stamped at the Airport and was later accompanied by the company driver who dropped me to my accommodation at Manama. The rest of my day went by resting.

31st January 2019 was the most special day of my life and the beginning of a new journey, with my new job and new responsibilities. I got to meet new people and liked the workplace and it was indeed a good start. Ever heard of “a home away from home” that’s what it feels like every Friday playing cricket at 6.30 in the morning with my Mangalorean friends. Well, the shopkeeper at the store I always go to is a Mangalorean too. Read More …

Honoring God’s Love

Two tear drops were floating down the river of life. One teardrop asked of the other, “Who are you?” It answered, “I was shed by a girl who loved a man and lost him.  And who are you?” The first teardrop replied, “Well, I was shed by the girl who got him!”

The above conversation, even if only fictitious, reveals the irony of love in reality. Though the desire to love and to be loved is a deep yearning in all human beings, love by itself is no guarantee of happy relationships. There are bound to be disappointments in any human relationship. Yet, true love is all about facing and overcoming these disappointments. And it is this unrelenting spirit in a relationship that is celebrated on Valentine’s Day commemorated universally yesterday.

Richness

A very wealthy man whose little son enjoyed the comforts of their lovely mansion took him through a very poor village to spend a day to give him a feeling of what poverty is. When they returned, the dad asked his son what he saw.
The boy said, “I see, we eat packaged food and canned stuff, they grow their own vegetables and eat fresh, we have chandeliers for light and decoration but they sleep under the starlit skies, we have two highbred dogs they have dogs all over the village barking at us strangers, we have a swimming pool and they have an ever-flowing river, we have computer games and they have children who spring about and play around with each other, we hardly know anybody in the neighbourhood but those people seem to everybody’s name in the village, we have no time to talk to each other but those parents spend so much of time with their children. I realised indeed how poor we are, dad, very poor we are, when compared to them.”
