As you wish, so shall it be

I recently watched Sapne vs Everyone – Season 2. One scene in the series, where Prashant’s mother tells a story, really stayed in my mind. Though simple, it gives a strong message about happiness, life choices, and understanding what we truly want in life

There was a man named Pinto. He was hardworking and talented, but he was never happy in life. He would often cry and pray to God, saying, “Please help me, God.”

One day, while Pinto was praying, God appeared before him and said, “Ask for whatever you want, and you shall receive it.”

God then asked, “Tell me, Pinto, what is the one thing you truly desire?”

Pinto immediately replied, “I want 1000 crores.”

Just as God was about to grant his wish, Pinto interrupted and said, “I need some time to think about my wish. Please give me one month.” God agreed.

Pinto then went to his family and friends and asked for their opinions.

“If I can ask God for anything, is it right to ask for 1000 crores?” he asked.

Everyone gave different opinions.

“What if someone steals your money the very next day?” “What if you die tomorrow?”

After listening to everyone, Pinto returned to God after one month.

God appeared again and asked, “What is the one thing that Pinto desires?”

This time, Pinto replied, “I want to live forever.”

Again, as God was about to grant the wish, Pinto interrupted Him and asked, “Is my decision correct?”

When God refused to answer, Pinto requested one more month to think.

God agreed once again.

Pinto returned to his friends and family for advice.

Again, everyone had different opinions.

“What if you get an incurable disease?” “What if you become handicapped? You will suffer forever.”

After hearing all this, Pinto returned to God after another month.

God appeared and asked once again, “What is the one thing that Pinto desires?”

Pinto replied, “I never want to be unhappy.”

But once again, before God could grant the wish, Pinto interrupted Him and asked, “What if I die tomorrow?”

And like this, Pinto kept asking for more time, again and again, for many months.

Finally, exhausted from constantly thinking about what he truly desired, Pinto said:

“God, You decide whatever You feel is best for me, because Your plans are better than mine.”

Then God granted his wish. “As you wish, so shall it be.”

In the end, Pinto’s life remained the same, as if he had never even met God. He never truly understood what he wanted because he was always dependent on other people’s opinions.

In life, you cannot have everything. Choices are always limited. Like Pinto, to gain something, you must be willing to give up other possibilities. Sometimes, the biggest problem in life is not the lack of opportunities, but the inability to decide what truly matters to us. We spend so much time asking others what is right that we forget to listen to ourselves. No choice in life comes without risk. Money cannot guarantee happiness, long life cannot guarantee peace, and avoiding sadness is impossible. Life will always have uncertainty.

True happiness may not come from getting everything we want, but from accepting our choices with peace and confidence. At some point, we must stop overthinking, stop fearing every possible outcome, and simply move forward with faith in ourselves and in life.
