Reacting to fake or offensive posts increases its reach…
With billion users, social media have a huge impact on how people connect, communicate and consume content. Though awareness about fake posts on social media is growing, the way people reacted to them needed transformation. Whenever a user realises that a post is fake, they often tend to comment on it by saying so. Never acknowledge a fake post by commenting that it is fake, as the notification will go to your friends that you have commented on it. It will never show the content of your comment. Consequently, without reading your comments your friends tend to like it and eventually the fake post spreads across the platform. Either do not touch it or always report a fake post using the option provided in settings. When many people report it, platforms like Facebook will use their hashing mechanism to remove it. Experts felt people should understand the business models of social media platforms. People should protect themselves online, especially when sharing personal details, including location.

“Speak your mind” and “post your mind” are not the same thing. A study that investigated how messages containing different emotions spread across social networks found that “anger is more influential than other emotions like joy, which indicates that angry tweets can spread quickly and broadly in the network. The consequences of such angry posts can be extremely serious. People have been publicly disgraced; lost their jobs and even faced criminal charges.
Follow these guidelines, before you post it online, use the THINK approach. Think about what you’ve typed.
Is it True? Is it Hurtful? Is it Illegal? Is it Necessary? Is it Kind?
When in doubt, leave it out!
