No matter what we say, or do, or achieve or believe, we are bankrupt without love. You can never learn to love in isolation. You must have irritable, angry, hateful and hurting, suspicious, provocative, jealous people around you if you want to learn to love. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
A boy wrote a letter to his girlfriend: “My darling, I love you from the bottom of my heart. I will climb the highest mountain for you, walk into the lions’ den for you, dive into the deepest ocean for you. I will meet you this evening. But, just in case it rains, I won’t be able to see you today.
Your beloved.”
Human love is so conditional and limited. But God’s love towards us is so unconditional and everlasting.
Two gentlemen were discussing how much their wives love them.
One man asked the other: “Do you remember the menu and how many meals your wife cooked for you over these years?”
The other replied: “My wife must have cooked over twenty thousand meals for me and I don’t remember the menu. All I know is that there was perfect love in every meal she served me.”
True love need not always be expressed in words. True love can be expressed and experienced in several ways. Make ‘loving’ a habit.
